Automounted NFS shares report: failed to create ioctl fd for /<directory> in /var/log/messages
Issue
- Automounted NFS shares are causing severe performance impacts and filling
/var/log/messageswith the following error messages:
Jan 11 21:15:58 hostname automount[3906]: mount_autofs_offset: failed to create ioctl fd for /tmp/autoqlK5xn/sge
Jan 11 21:33:27 hostname automount[3906]: mount_autofs_offset: failed to create ioctl fd for /tmp/autoeIj4LG/sge
Jan 11 22:53:57 hostname automount[3906]: mount_autofs_offset: failed to create ioctl fd for /tmp/autoK654ct/sge
Jan 11 23:07:40 hostname automount[3906]: mount_autofs_offset: failed to create ioctl fd for /tmp/autoCV1EJY/sge
Jan 12 00:25:04 hostname automount[3906]: mount_autofs_offset: failed to create ioctl fd for /tmp/autosRoxox/sge
