Why is rpc.svcgssd not starting with message 'do you have a keytab entry for nfs/<your.host>@<YOUR.REALM> in /etc/krb5.keytab' ?
Issue
- I want to setup secured/kerberized nfs, why is gssd not starting?
- When executing
service nfs startI see thatRPC svcgssdis not starting. - When executing
service rpcsvcgssd startI see thatRPC svcgssdis not starting. - Why is rpc.svcgssd not starting with the following message?
rpc.svcgssd[25]: ERROR: GSS-API: error in gss_acquire_cred(): Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information - No principal in keytab matches desired name
rpc.svcgssd[25]: unable to obtain root (machine) credentials
rpc.svcgssd[25]: do you have a keytab entry for nfs/<your.host>@<YOUR.REALM> in /etc/krb5.keytab?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 and 6
- NFSv4
- Kerberos
