How to interrupt RHELUnregistrationDeployment when stack delete fails in Red Hat OpenStack

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

In an OverCloud where nodes are registered to a Satellite 6, heat stack-delete overcloud may get stuck.

The following command shows that the deletion is stuck / failed at RHELUnregistrationDeployment

heat resource-list -n5 overcloud

The deployment will only fail after the default timeout (which by default is several hours). This seems to happen for several reasons, e.g. in case a node was deleted out-of-band or if a node lost connectivity to the Satellite server.

heat stack-delete overcloud

How can one delete the stack quickly, without waiting for the timeout of RHELUnregistrationDeployment?
