In which releases of Red Hat Enterprise Linux are the Intel Xeon 5500 Series Processors (formerly codenamed "Nehalem-EP") supported?

Resolution

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.7 are the minimum required versions for Intel® Xeon® 5500 Series Processor (formerly codenamed "Nehalem-EP") based systems. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 was made available on the Red Hat Network (RHN) on January 20th, 2009. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.7 was made available on RHN on June 24th, 2008.

Customers calling Red Hat Support who are running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 will be advised that 5.3 is the minimum supported version for all Intel® Xeon® 5500 Series Processor-based systems. However, as usual, Red Hat Support will endeavor to help customers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 on these systems with general issues. If issues cannot be resolved on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 after commercially reasonable efforts, Red Hat Support will request that customers reproduce hardware related problems on the latest release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
