Why does my x86 system lose conectivity to the network using the Davicom Semiconductor, Inc. 21x4x DEC-Tulip network card?

A x86 system may lose conectivity to the Network using the Davicom Semiconductor, Inc. 21x4x DEC-Tulip network card. This is due to the network card being able to be used by two modules, one that works correctly, and the other one does not. For more information check the following bugzilla:
