IPA (IdM) installation fails when using the "--external_cert_file' option with a certificate issued by an external Certificate Authority

Issue

  • When attempting to install IPA with the --external_cert_file option and a certificate that was issued by an external Certificate Authority, the installer returns an error:

    ipa-server-install --external_cert_file=/tmp/ipaserver_b64.cer --external_ca_file=/tmp/ca-certs.pem

...
[16/22]: restarting certificate server
[17/22]: requesting RA certificate from CA
Unexpected error - see /var/log/ipaserver-install.log for details:
IndexError: list index out of range
