When will BPMS 6 allow users to specify groups as BusinessAdministrators ?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • There has been a growing need for jBPM6 to allow user defined groups to act as BusinessAdministrators . Currently the concept of BusinessAdministrators in BPMS 6.0.x has been implemented around users, and not around groups. For example, when adding a businessAdministratorId data-item to a task definition, a user is created at runtime, as opposed to a group.
  • Some users have a complex environment with multiple users (several dozen thousand), multiple user groups, and multiple administrator groups. There are departmental groups of users who have their own group of administrators, so the built-in Administrators group cannot be leveraged here in this sort of business use-case.
  • It seems that a provision for a BUSINESSADMINISTRATOR_GROUP_ID is implemented in version jBPM 6.1.0-SNAPSHOT [1] . Is this feature going to be available in future releases of BPMS 6.x ?
