Can curl HTTPS requests make fewer access system calls?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • When using curl 7.19.7-37.el6_4, or libcurl on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 to make a HTTPS request there are many "access" system calls to paths/directories/files that do not exist, this bloats the dentry_cache.
  • RHEL7.0 has the same problem.
