Why does RHEV complain about insufficient memory when trying to live migrate VMs?

Issue

  • When I try to live migrate VMs I get the following error message:
Error while executing action:

host1:
- Cannot migrate VM. There are no available running Hosts with sufficient memory in VM's Cluster .
- Cannot migrate VM. There is no host that satisfies current scheduling constraints. See bellow for details:
- The host host1 did not satisfy internal filter Memory.
  • Why do I get that message when the relevant host has plenty of memory available?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.3.
  • Cluster memory optimization set to "None - Disable memory page sharing".
