A RHEV VM on RHEL Hypervisor is getting NMI errors.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

We have RHEL guests running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 kernel 2.6.18-164.el15. These guests ran fine under the 5.7 hypervisor. During our migration process, we exported the machines to an export domain from a 2.2 data center and imported them into a 3.0 data center. When booting the guest, NMI errors scroll up the console and we are unable to get the guest to boot into the OS.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0
  • RHEL 6.2
  • RHEL 5 guest from RHEL 5.7 hypervisor migrated to a RHEL 6.2 hypervisor.
