Tabs not printing properly on textonly printer in RHEL

Issue

I have a band printer set up and running with the model set to Generic in text-only mode but finds that it is not interpreting the tab stops correctly. We have reports and programmers codes to be printed with explicit tabs. The printer has to print the documents properly with the correct spacing.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2
