Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Can another host be used to fsck the saved metadata for a GFS or GFS2 filesystem on RHEL 5 or RHEL 6?
  • Running fsck.gfs or fsck.gfs2 takes a long time on the hosts that mount the GFS or GFS2 filesystem. Can another host be used to run fsck.gfs or fsck.gfs2 on only the saved metadata and then restore the metadata to the original host?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
