Issue

  • ls and cd hangs on subdirectory of a CIFS share coming from NetApp in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, with the following messages in logs:
kernel:  CIFS VFS: No response for cmd 50 mid 34012
kernel:  CIFS VFS: RFC1001 size 174 bigger than SMB for Mid=34016
  • ls in a subdirectory shows question marks on a NetApp CIFS share mounted on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 CIFS client:
-?????????? ? ?    ?          ?            ? examplefile1.txt
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 1234567 Jan 20 16:17 examplefile2.txt
