Is a 32-bit JDK supported on 64-bit RHEL?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • A legacy application requires a 32-bit JVM but all of our servers are 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • A 3rd party application requires a 32-bit JVM but all of our servers are 64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • The 32-bit JDKs seem to be missing from the rhel-x86_64-server-supplementary-(5|6) and rhel-x86_64-server-(5|6)-thirdparty-oracle-java channels.
  • With the separation of Oracle Java to its own channel, it looks like the 32-bit packages on RHEL 6 x86_64 are missing. How do I install the 32-bit version of Oracle Java on RHEL 6?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5
