clustat command shows no services and reports "Timed out waiting for a response from Resource Group Manager"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In a cluster clustat shows no resource groups and says "Timed out waiting for a response from Resource Group Manager". At the moment the services which were started from the cluster are still running on the primary node as also on the adoptive node.
  • We plan to migrate this cluster to two new servers. For that we have installed two new servers where we have prepared a new cluster configuration. Within the cluster config we have replaced all old clusternode names, set the version to 1 and we have only configured some dummy resources (an unused IP and a new filesystem). What we have not changed was the cluster name.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • At least 2 High Availability clusters on the same network with the same cluster name, or different names that will hash into the same multicast address.
    • Ultimately, the issue is that 2 clusters are using the same multicast address.
  • rgmanager as resource group manager
  • multicast cluster transport (udpu is not affected)
