Issue

  • What is 'rhel-source' and do I need it to update systems

Resolution

rhel-source is a yum repository, disabled by default, which is configured in /etc/yum.repos.d/rhel-source.repo.

It is meant to be used to download the source packages to compile them yourself ; however Red Hat does not support recompiled versions of its packages.

Most people will not find this channel useful ; if you enabled the repository by mistake you can disable it by setting enabled = 0 in /etc/yum.repos.d/rhel-source.repo.

To be able to download updates, register your machine to rhn classic or red hat subscription manager
