How to determine what process caused an ext3, ext4, or xfs filesystem to freeze?
Issue
- One of our ext4 filesystems entered a frozen state and did not return. This caused the system to suffer from an extremely high ldavg and become unresponsive. How do we determine what process caused the filesystem freeze to occur if it occurs again?
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6/7
- ext3/ext4/xfs filesystem
