How to add new ETCD member to cluster after control plane node replacement in agent-based, disconnected, baremetal environment

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • There is no documented procedure for replacing a Control Plane node in a bare metal cluster built with the Agent-Based Installer(ABI).
  • Inability to recover control plane node requires a complete rebuild of the cluster versus just a partial recovery of replacing the unhealthy node.
  • Following 4.18 guidance for replacing a failed etcd member on-prem, does not work as expected due to the lack of BMC configuration.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP)
    • Disconnected Cluster
    • Agent-Based Install
    • Baremetal
