Unable to Enable SR-IOV VFs on High CPU Core Count SuperMicro AMD Servers with Intel E810-2CQDA2 with OpenShift Container Platform 4.17
Issue
- Experiencing difficulty in enabling Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) Virtual Functions (VFs) on E810-2CQDA2
- Unable to create or manage SR-IOV VFs on SuperMicro AMD server AS-1115HS-TNR with Intel E810-2CQDA2
- No error messages are displayed, but the SR-IOV VFs remain inactive
Environment
OpenShift Container Platform minimum versions with a kernel (kernel-5.14.0-427.69.1.el9_4) that allows to fix the issue:
- OpenShift Container Platform 4.17.33
- OpenShift Container Platform 4.16.42
- OpenShift Container Platform 4.18.17
This issue is only hit when hyperthreading is enabled on the node.
