RHOCP 4 nodes have incorrect interface name showing as eth0

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • Network interfaces showing up as eth0 with inconsistent altnames.
  • systemd-udevd[972]: ens0f0np0: Failed to rename network interface 2 from 'eth0' to 'ens0f0np0': File exists

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) 4.13 and newer
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9
