Audio Jack Headphone's Mic doesn't work on Dell Pro Max Premium Dell Pro Max Plus with RHEL9.6
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6
- Dell Pro Max Premium 14 - MA14250/16 - MA16250
- Dell Pro Max Plus 16 - MB16250/18 - MB18250
Issue
- Audio Jack Headphone's Speakers work but, Mic doesn't work on Dell Pro Max Premium and Dell Pro Max Plus with RHEL9.6
Resolution
The issue has been identified as a bug initially and we have reported this to our engineering team and it was tracked in the internal Jira RHEL-76319.
It requires the Pipewire & Wireplumber upgrades to >=v1.2.5 & >=v0.5.5 for the audio Jack Headphone's mic to work on Dell Pro Max Premium and Dell Pro Max Plus with RHEL9.6 version which is not possible at this moment in RHEL9.6 version. So, a workaround has been introduced to overcome this issue.
Note: There is a plan for RHEL9.7 to upgrade Pipewire & Wireplumber to >=v1.2.5 & >=v0.5.5 versions which will resolve this issue. In RHEL10.X, this issue is not reproducible as it already has Pipewire & Wireplumber to >=v1.2.5 & >=v0.5.5 versions.
WORKAROUND:
- Replace
/usr/share/alsa/ucm2/sof-soundwire/cs42l33.conffile with the version present in the below link:
