Previous Docker Community Edition repositories no longer allow updates for "docker-ce-stable"

Issue

• When using third-party Docker on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 or 9 systems, yum update fails with errors similar to:

[root@rhel-docker-host ~]# yum update
Updating Subscription Management repositories.

Errors during downloading metadata for repository 'docker-ce-stable':

Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'docker-ce-stable': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried
