Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- iLO (HP Hardware)
Issue
- Why the Interface status showing the UNKNOWN in iLO?
- Why iLO showing the "UNKNOWN" Status?
Resolution
Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) is a proprietary embedded server management technology by Hewlett-Packard (HP) that provides administrators with a comprehensive suite of remote management capabilities for their servers. iLO allows administrators to monitor, control, and manage HP servers remotely.
When the NIC status is shown as "UNKNOWN" in iLO, it typically indicates an issue with the iLO's ability to detect or communicate with the network interface.
You can check the below point in the initial Troubleshooting stage to fix the issue.
- Update the iLO firmware to the latest version
- Update the NIC Driver
- Log in to the iLO interface and navigate to the network settings.
- Ensure that the NIC is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
- Restart the iLO interface to see if the NIC status updates correctly.
If the issue is still not fixed then Please consult with the respective HP vendor for further diagnostic of this issue.
