Introduction

This guide offers Red Hat's policies and requirements around managing Oracle databases with a RHEL High Availability cluster. Users of RHEL High Availability clusters should adhere to these policies in order to be eligible for support from Red Hat with the appropriate product support subscriptions.

Policies

Scope of Red Hat support with Oracle resources managed by a cluster: Refer to Red Hat's policy on Management of applications that Red Hat does not ship for further details on Red Hat's scope of support applicable to Oracle software deployments in a RHEL High Availability cluster.

The focus of Red Hat's assistance may be limited to functionality of the High Availability software and the oracle agent(s). In some cases Oracle's input may be necessary to diagnose the nature of a problem - even if the problem originates in the resource-agent Red Hat ships. Solutions to problems with RHEL High Availability + Oracle deployments may be dependent upon some input or deliverable from Oracle in cases where the issue can not be solved adequately through RHEL High Availability without Oracle's assistance.

Oracle 18c and Oracle 19c: Red Hat's support for managing Oracle 18c and Oracle 19c components in a RHEL High Availability cluster is subject to the following conditions:

  • RHEL 9: Oracle 18c and Oracle 19c management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents.
  • RHEL 8: Oracle 18c and Oracle 19c management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents fromresource-agents-4.1.1-44.el8_2.3 or later.
  • RHEL 7: Oracle 18c and Oracle 19c management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents from resource-agents-4.1.1-30.el7_7.7 or later.

Oracle 12c: Red Hat's support for managing Oracle 12c components in a RHEL High Availability cluster is subject to the following conditions:

  • RHEL 8: Oracle 12c management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents
  • RHEL 7: Oracle 12c management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents from resource-agents-3.9.5-54.el7 or later.
  • RHEL 6 with pacemaker: Oracle 12c management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents from resource-agents-3.9.5-34.el6 or later.
  • RHEL 6 with rgmanager: Red Hat does not provide direct support for managing Oracle 12c components within rgmanager clusters. Organizations may choose to implement their own scripts or agents to manage such components, under the condition that such scripts would not be within the scope of Red Hat's support (see general policies on resource management).

Oracle 11g: Red Hat's support for managing Oracle 11g components in a RHEL High Availability cluster is subject to the following conditions:

  • RHEL 8: Oracle 11g management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents
  • RHEL 7: Oracle 11g management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents from resource-agents-3.9.5-54.el7 or later.
  • RHEL 6 with pacemaker: Oracle 11g management in a cluster supported by Red Hat using the oracle and oralsnr agents from resource-agents-3.9.5-34.el6 or later.
  • RHEL 6 with rgmanager: Red Hat supports management of Oracle 11g components using the oracledb agent OR the orainstance and oralistener agents from resource-agents-3.9.2-21.el6_4.3 or later.

Oracle 10g: Red Hat's support for managing Oracle 10g components in a RHEL High Availability cluster is subject to the following conditions:

  • RHEL 8, RHEL 7, or RHEL 6 with pacemaker: Red Hat does not provide direct support for managing Oracle 10g components within pacemaker clusters. Organizations may choose to implement their own scripts or agents to manage such components, under the condition that such scripts would not be within the scope of Red Hat's support (see general policies on resource management).
  • RHEL 6 with rgmanager: Red Hat supports management of Oracle 10g components using the oracledb agent OR the orainstance and oralistener agents from resource-agents-3.9.2-21.el6_4.3 or later.
