Cost mismatch between Azure Portal and Red Hat Cost Management

Issue

  • We have two resource groups in azure and when we compare the costs in cost management and Azure, those numbers doesn't match.
  • Mismatch found in cost between Azure portal and Red Hat Cost Management

Resolution

  • This issue has been reported to Red Hat engineering, who are working on below two Jira tickets, that will likely solve the mismatch issue.
    • COST-3165: Attribute the cost of node attached storage to OpenShift Projects (on cloud only)
    • COST-3761: Cluster/Node Networking Costs for OCP on Cloud

Root Cause

  • The cost mismatch is likely due to difference in Storage on Azure and Cost Management.
  • Also, there is another feature in flight for network costs too which will cover a little here also.
