Moving large VM disks from one NetApp NFS storage domain to another takes a very long time

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

In an environment with plenty of bandwidth, moving VM disks between NetApp (FAS2240 cluster) NFS storage domains takes a larger-than-expected amount of time. In some cases, hosts would enter the "non-responsive" state when disks were being moved from one storage domain to another.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.X
  • NetApp "Vmotion" filer (FAS2240 cluster)
