RHEL 7 Update 9 mcelog logs “only decoding architectural errors"

Environment

• Intel 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Performance processors code name Ice Lake Server
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 update 9
• mcelog warning about only decoding architectural errors

Issue

Systems with Intel Ice Lake Server processors will emit the following when running mcelog on RHEL 7 update 9

mcelog: Family 6 Model 106 CPU: only decoding architectural errors

Resolution

These messages are not serious problems and just informative messages.
There is a Product Enhancement Advisory available for similar issue for RHEL 8 Update 2 mcelog logs “only decoding architectural errors".
To fix the issue update the system to RHEL 8 latest version implement RHEA-2020:1905 - Product Enhancement Advisory

Root cause

This is a known behavior of mcelog for the described environment.

var log messages shows below logs:
