Using environment variables with mod_substitute in Apache httpd 2.4

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We want to use mod_substitute to modify a number of URLs that are loaded from a JavaScript. The idea is to add a context to the URLs to be handled by a reverse proxy. The problem is that the context is configurable and is available as an environment variable and not a fixed string.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
    • 7+
  • Red Hat Software Collections (RHSCL)
    • 2.0+
  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 7.0+
  • Red Hat JBoss Web Server (JWS)
    • 3.0+
  • Red Hat JBoss Core Services (JBCS)
    • 2.4.23+
  • Apache httpd
    • 2.4
  • mod_substitute
