sudo fails with error "unable to load /usr/libexec/sudo/sudoers.so: libsmime3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Issue
- Unable to perform sudo su which is failing with below error
[root@server ~]# sudo su
sudo: error in /etc/sudo.conf, line 19 while loading plugin "sudoers_policy"
sudo: unable to load /usr/libexec/sudo/sudoers.so: libsmime3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
sudo: fatal error, unable to load plugins
- yum not working with below error
[root@server ~]# yum reinstall nss
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:
libsmime3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.
It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.7.5 (default, May 30 2023, 03:38:55)
[GCC 4.8.5 20150623 (Red Hat 4.8.5-44)]
