Worker node is stuck in a NotReady state during Openshift 4.x upgrade

Issue

  • While upgrading OpenShift from 4.10.59 to 4.11 worker node is stuck in a NotReady state but ALL Masters are updated
  • Kubelet is unable to run on a node during an OpenShift 4.x upgrade.
  • Kubelet fails on a node during an upgrade and rebooting the node does not fix the issue.
  • Worker node is stuck in a NotReady state during upgrade and CRIO clean up does not help.

Environment

  • OpenShift Container Platform 4.x

  • Install Type: IPI
