Message hv_storvsc <vmbus-uuid>: tag#NNN cmd 0x2a status: scsi 0x0 srb 0x0 hv 0xc0000001 flooding logs

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Some commands such as mkfs, pvcreate, oracleasm createdisk, etc. may hang indefinitely when issued against a backend SAN storage LUN presented directly to the VM.

  • The RHEL guests on Microsoft Hyper-V are flooded with hv_storvsc driver events:

    testvm kernel: hv_storvsc 19a23686-f7bd-440f-aa9b-e5f7064f66e1: tag#220 cmd 0x2a status: scsi 0x0 srb 0x0 hv 0xc0000001

    • These logs may occur when Hyper-v is allowed to set the max_sectors_kb for SAN storage LUN's presented directly to the VM.
