Why IPv6 multicast traffic is intermittently dropped in RHEL 8 and RHEL 9 ?

Issue

  • During the course of investigating an intermittent connectivity issue with IPv6 it was noted that there is always an IPv6 multicast packet being dropped by firewalld.
