`Ingress Operator failed: CanaryChecksRepetitiveFailures` during upgrade when ingress sharding is used

Issue

  • During upgrade cluster operator Ingress is degraded

  • Upon checking the status the following error is noted.

    # oc get co | grep ingress

ingress                                    4.11.25   True        False         True       114m    The "default" 
ingress controller reports Degraded=True: DegradedConditions: One or more other status conditions indicate a 
degraded state: CanaryChecksSucceeding=Unknown (CanaryRouteNotAdmitted: Canary route is not admitted by the 
default ingress
