Devices file PVID XX last seen on /dev/vda3 not found messages for lvm commands on RHEL 9 and Nutanix

Issue

  • We are building images for Nutanix via Packer on KVM/QEMU and we are seeing following LVM errors on machines cloned from this image:

    [root@testvm ~]# pvs
      Devices file PVID AAAAaaaaBBBBbbbXXXXXxxxxYYYyyy11 last seen on /dev/vda3 not found.
    
    [root@testvm ~]# vgs
      Devices file PVID AAAAaaaaBBBBbbbXXXXXxxxxYYYyyy11 last seen on /dev/vda3 not found.
    
    [root@testvm ~]# lvs
      Devices file PVID AAAAaaaaBBBBbbbXXXXXxxxxYYYyyy11 last seen on /dev/vda3 not found.
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
  • VMs in Nutanix virtual environment
  • VM images built with Packer
