Netmask is not getting assigned to interface by restarting network services in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Configuring ip address with netmask 255.255.255.0 in file "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0". But when we command "ifconfig" is run it is showing some other netmask like 255.255.254.0.
  • Why is netmask and route changing after reboot automatically ?
  • Why is Netmask value getting changed automatically after reboot ?
