chronyd service failed to start at boot

Issue

  • Chronyd.service fails to start at boot and also manually with systemctl.

  • When chronyd fails to start,it reports wrong argument in /etc/sysconfig/chronyd configuration file.

    Jan 15 09:32:42 abchost chronyd[1139]: Fatal error : Invalid directive at line 1
    Jan 15 09:32:42 abchost chronyd[1132]: Invalid directive at line 1
    Jan 15 09:32:42 abchost systemd[1]: chronyd.service: Control process exited, code=exited status=1
    Jan 15 09:32:43 abchost systemd[1]: chronyd.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
