Why is the Multicloud Gateway default backing store stuck in `Initializing` status?

Issue

  • After installing Openshift Data Foundation ( ODF ), the default backing store for the MultiCloud Gateway is stuck in Initializing status, although its phase is Ready. Inspecting some oc outputs:

    # oc get backingstore
NAME                           TYPE     PHASE   AGE
noobaa-default-backing-store   aws-s3   Ready   6m58s

    However:

    # oc get backingstore noobaa-default-backing-store -o yaml | grep " modeCode:"
modeCode: INITIALIZING

    In a typical scenario, if the backingstore is Ready, its mode should have transitioned to Optimal.
