SerialOld Full GC events occurring when CMS collector is used

Issue

We are using the Concurrent Mark Sweep (CMS) collector but the gc.log reports Full GC events which GarbageCat identifies as SerialOld collections. There are no mode failures of other CMS events triggering them. Why do they occur?
