Issues with cups-brf backend in RHEL 8 and RHEL 9

Issue

  • In RHEL 8, I see the following in the error_log file:

    E [20/Sep/2022:14:54:29 -0500] [CGI] cups-brf must be called as root

  • The cups-brf backend is non-funcional in RHEL 9.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.0-8.7, 9.0-0.1
  • cups-filters-1.20.0-27.el8, cups-filters-1.28.7-10.el9
