How to access a git repo from a locally hosted Azure DevOps Server from Red Hat GitOps

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Red Hat GitOps is unable to create new projects using SSH authentication to connect to a git repo on a local Azure DevOps Server.
  • Using Personal Access Tokens (PATs) in Red Hat GitOps fails to authenticate over HTTPS with git repos on a local Azure DevOps Server.

NOTE: This seems to only be an issue where the Azure DevOps Server is a local, on-premise deployment and does not seem to impact cloud based Azure DevOps offerings.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift GitOps
    • 1.6.1
  • Azure DevOps Server 2020
    • Update 1.1
