Can Red Hat OpenShift Logging stack deployed in OSD/ROSA make it run on the infra nodes like OCP?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA)
    • 4
  • Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated (OSD)
    • 4
  • Red Hat OpenShift Logging (RHOL)
    • 5

Issue

  • Customer want to move their OpenShift Logging to the infra nodes which SRE managed in OSD/ROSA cluster.

Resolution

No, in OSD and ROSA, the infra nodes are managed by the SRE Team and no custom workloads (including RHOL) can be deployed there (as the SRE Team does not manage the Logging stack in OSD/ROSA). Refer to Running custom workloads in OSD/ROSA control plane or infra nodes for additional information.

It is possible to create different machines to have the Logging stack separated from other custom workloads instead.

Root Cause

It is not supported to execute custom workloads in control plane or infrastructure nodes in OSD and ROSA clusters.
