KubeScheduler is crashing after deleting Nodes

Issue

  • While deleting and recreating nodes the KubeScheduler started crashing (CrashLoopBackOff) with the following warnings:

    runtime.go:78] Observed a panic: "invalid memory address or nil pointer dereference" (runtime error: invalid memory address or nil pointer dereference)
    
  • OpenShift-Kube-Scheduler Cluster Operator is in a degraded state

  • The Cluster Operator remained in the degraded state for a number of minutes but the issue was resolved after the Nodes were recreated.
