System boot hangs while starting lvm2-monitor.service

Issue

  • System is getting hung during boot process with following message on console:

    A start job is running for Monitoring of LVM2 mirrors, snapshots etc. using dmeventd or progress polling.
    
  • There is a segfault message also logged during boot process:

    md/raid1:md124: active with 2 out of 2 mirrors
    md124: detected capacity change from 0 to 912185622528
    lvm[1418]: segfault at 820 ip 00007f99d954b687 sp 00007ffdae1e65b8 error 4 in libc-2.28.so[7f99d93ee000+1b9000]
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2
  • lvm2-2.03.08-3.el8
  • IMSM RAID
  • LVM volumes created using partitions on IMSM raid devices
