Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on Microsoft Azure Subscription Entitlement Association
Billing Renewals
Ansible Automation Platform on Microsoft Azure is an Azure Marketplace offering. When a customer deploys this offering, then Microsoft will automatically bill customers at the start of each billing cycle. No customer action is required to auto-renew billing or the lifecycle of the managed application; it will continue as long as the managed application is deployed.
Each instance of Ansible on Azure has it's own billing cycle based on when the managed application is deployed. Microsoft has detailed articles that describe how billing cycles on Azure operate.
Red Hat Support Entitlement Renewals
Support entitlements for all Red Hat products are provided by Red Hat, not Microsoft, and happens outside of the billing process mentioned above. This step is important because it will inform Red Hat support of your active Red Hat products on Azure when you reach out to Red Hat for support.
There is a one-time process that customers can perform in order to ensure that all Red Hat offers on Azure Marketplace automatically renew support entitlements. If you experience a circumstance where your Red Hat support entitlement does not renew, then please ensure that you have performed those steps.
Obtaining a Support Entitlement
There are two different ways in which a support entitlement can be associated with your Red Hat account:
- Ansible Automation Platform Deployment Driver that can be used when initially deploying AAP on Azure.
- NO-COST Red Hat Subscription Offering on Azure Marketplace that can be used at any time.
Red Hat recommends the Ansible Automation Platform Deployment Driver method.
The method that you use may require future action, but these are provided to offer flexibility regarding how and when an entitlement is requested.
The Ansible Automation Platform Deployment Driver
When deploying Ansible Automation Platform on Microsoft Azure, the majority of the deployment is handled by an ephemeral component called "the deployment driver." It will only be available during the deployment of the solution; usually an hour or less.
The URL to the deployment driver is provided about 15 minutes into the deployment as part of the "parameters and outputs" of the managed application within Azure Portal.
- When you open the deployment driver URL, you will receive a pop-up asking you to sign in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console with your Red Hat account.
- When you click this link and login, you will be issued a support entitlement, or you will receive confirmation that you already have a support entitlement.
- In cases where you receive a new entitlement, you may also receive an email asking that you confirm the entitlement request.
- Be sure to acknowledge the email so that your entitlement is properly issued.
In the event that you do not open the deployment driver before it completes and is removed from the platform, then you may use one of the following options.
Red Hat Subscription Offering
The Azure Marketplace has an offering entitled "Red Hat Subscription Support Registration."
