Unable to login into GUI (GNOME) session.

Issue

  • Unable to login into Red Hat Enterprise Linux server in GUI mode.
  • When trying to login into the system getting following error message:
"Your session only lasted less then 10second. if you have logged out yourself . this could mean that there is some installation problem or that you may be out of disk space. Try logging i with one of the failsafe to session to see if you can fix this problem." 

"/etc/gdm/PreSession/default: Registering your session with utmp 
 /etc/gdm/PreSession/default: running: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/gdm/:0.xservers" -h " " -l ":0" "root" 
 localuser:root being added to access control list no profile for user 'root' found 
 (gnome-session:xxxx): gtk-warning **: cannot open display:
