Need to set read-ahead (blockdev) value on multipath device

Need to set the read ahead value to optimize db.
Command planning to run is:
/sbin/blockdev --setra 16385 /dev/xxxx
Should I be choosing the mpath devices created by multipath to set this option or the underlying backend devices?
