Kickstart over network with custom ISO fails with "unable to read package metadata" error

Issue

  • end up with following error, whenever trying to kickstart Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6:

    Unable to read package Metadata.  This may be due to a missing repodata directory.   Please ensure that your install tree has been correctly generated.
     failure: repodata/5a0e8713a66a3a0b4dbada30fd3a0b1e9e6fceba8c92c79a77b810399135267e-primary.sqllite.bz2 from anaconda-base-200908190312.x86_64:
     [Errno 256]  No more mirrors to try.
    
  • no issues when kickstarting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
