When accessing Samba share from Windows machine - password prompt appears

Issue

  • This occurs for some of the Windows clients.
  • On the Windows 7 machine when using the FQDN of the Samba server we are prompted for a password but not when using the IP address.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • samba-3.0.33
