Kdump service is getting fail with "ConditionKernelCommandLine=crashkernel was not met" during boot.

Issue

  • During boot the kdump service is getting fail to start though the memory reserved for the crash kernel.
kdump.service - Crash recovery kernel arming
   Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/kdump.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
Condition: start condition failed at Thu 2021-09-02 03:52:56 GMT; 2h 29min ago
           └─ ConditionKernelCommandLine=crashkernel was not met
  • However, manual starting of kdump works fine by using kdumpctl command.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
