Changes to JBoss EAP 5 datasource configuration performed using admin-console or JBoss ON are lost if the -ds.xml is modified later

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When I do some updates of datasouce configuration by admin-console web interface and I try to modify something in datasource xml file, the change does not have any effect.
  • I deployed a datasource with a -ds file and then changed the user in the admin-console because I misspelled the user.   When I test a connection, it appears to use the old values.  In the server.log file, we can still see that the user used for the connection test was the old one.

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.1, 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 5.2
  • Datasource deployment descriptor (*-ds.xml) deployed to application server
  • One or more configuration changes made using the JBoss EAP admin-console, JBoss Operations Network (ON), or a JBoss profile service client followed by a change directly to the datasource deployment descriptor (*-ds.xml) file.
